How Much It Costs to Throw an Olympics vs. Go to Mars

The only difference is companies like McDonald’s profit way more than they could going to Mars so Olympics will happen every four years (and if they could make it happen more often they probably would)

barackobama:

President Obama called the members of the U.S. women’s gymnastics team today to congratulate them on their wins last night. Judging from their Twitter feeds, they were pretty psyched.

I just love, I just really really love this man. Can’t I say that? Is that too biased and one sided? Oh who cares for right now I wanna say it. Can I please, can I?

Mitt Romney: A Walking Faux Pas

I don’t where to begin to describe Mitt Romney as a walking faux pas. Is it “who let the dogs out” moment, or “I’m not concerned about the very poor”, what about “I Saw my Father March with Marting Luther King”, or “Corporations are people, my friend”.

I mean really, do I have to go on.

In today’s news there was another blunder but this one was all comedy, describing the ‘back garden’ of Downing Street in London, England he said, “I spent a great day in the ‘backside’ of Downing Street”

And just the other day, he also was criticizing the London Olympics, that there weren’t enough private security, saying:

“The stories about the private security firm not having enough people, the supposed strike of the immigration and customs officials — that obviously is not something which is encouraging,” he told NBC News.

Then Prime Minister David Cameron later rebuked Romney.

“We are holding an Olympic Games in one of the busiest, most active, bustling cities anywhere in the world. Of course, it’s easier if you hold an Olympic Games in the middle of nowhere,” he said.

Oh those comedians out there, they are having a bast, enjoying another political season, I think its their favorite time of year and you really can’t blame them.

If We Knew Our History

Another amazing article by David Zirin (@edgeofsports), Sports Editor of The Nation.

He always knows how to give the back story of any popular (by the status quo of society) event like the Olympics, that even in sports there are human rights issues, prejudices, racism, inequality, poverty and so on.

He will tell you straight up what is wrong with that picture and how it is we can educate ourselves becoming more aware of what is around us and what we can do to change it for the better. This is an absolute must read!
